COUGAR MEDICS:
OUR GOALS
Though being a relatively new organization, Cougar Medics has lofty goals. In the future, we hope to begin an offshoot of our organization that provides medical coverage of UH Main Campus. Though initially, coverage will likely be limited to weekends or busier days, the eventual goal will be to have EMTs able to provide 24/7 free medical care to anyone who may need it. For minor emergencies, this may be able to prevent a pricey trip to urgent care. For major emergencies, every second counts, and our presence could be life saving.
Similar organizations have proven successful at other college campuses. University of Texas's University EMR and Rice EMS are both examples of nearby colleges with successful student-run EMS programs. The National Collegiate EMS Foundation has a more comprehensive list of other successful EMS programs at colleges around the country.
Though it may take years to reach the goals listed here, we are committed to doing so, and cannot wait to provide free, quality medical care to the University of Houston.
